Ziua 5 Gore-Tex Transalpine Run 2011

Sunt la Scuol in Elvetia, doua zile vor sta aici, dorm in bunkere si este OK atmosfera din "tabara"!

Startul se da in functie de clasamentl intermediar dupa 4 zile la intervale de 20 secunde. Cei mai buni vor pleca ultimii!
Ziua a 5 a pare cea mai usoara...dar nu cred ca este asa, o urcare lunga de 6km cu +1000D, am inteles de la Silvia ca nu este usoara si au vazut ieri cam ceea ce-i asteapta azi pentru ca au coborat pe acolo.
Ziua de ieri a fost extraordinara si peisajele alpine si vremea buna le-au dat putere celor doua echipe Team Carpathian Man ( Master Man) si Team Romania (fete) sa mearga excelent!
"Day five calls especially for mountain runners among the participants: For the mountain sprint from Scuol onto the 2,130 meter high Motta Naluns, runners will not only need endurance and stamina but especially good mountain running skills. This steep ascent over 6.19 km and 936 m of elevation on uneven ground will demand everything of the athletes. The ideal program for the highly anticipated "rest day" on the Western route."

Silvia a spus ca a fost o zi superba astazi, alpina si peisajele extraordinare! Maine urmeaza sprintul de 6km si +1000mD, nu stiu cum vor aborda aceasta zi, se face media timpilor pentru cei doi coechipieri! Vremea ramane superba!

Ziua 4 TAR 2011

Aproximativ 40Km cu +2339D, -2734D! ( Galtür/A in Paznauntal – Scuol/CH in Unterengadin)
Astazi este o etapa foarte grea mai ales dupa ce ultimele 3 zile au fost foarte solicitante!
Am vorbit cu Silvia si a spus ca oboseala se simte foarte rau iar astazi timpul limita este foarte foarte strans. Si ieri a fost o zi lunga si au terminat dupa 8h:20.
Keep on running! sau macar walking!!
Clasament intermediar aici!
*azi se anunta vreme frumoasa si vad ca baietii au o zi buna! astept finishul!
Profilul de azi nu arata foarte fain dar ma bucur si eu ca maine va fi etapa de sprint 6km cu +1000D (greu dar macar nu va mai dura atat de multe ore)
"The fourth stage has also got the lot and awaits runners with nearly 40 km of distance and 2,339 m of elevation difference. After the rhythmical opening on a steadily ascending forest road through the Jamtal to the hut of the same name, the road changes into a trail which leads to the Futschölpass (2,768 m) and further on to the Swiss border. Here begins the long descent toward Alp Valmala before another climb begins onto the 2,370 m high Piz Clünas."

Ziua 3 vazuta de acolo by Joe Symonds - Team Inov8
" Today's stage from Schruns to Galtur (both in Austria) was run over the alternative (bad weather) course due to the constant rain and threat of high altitude storms.
There was very little difference in either distance or elevation from the orignial course. However he climbing was much more gradual and the long section of ridge running (which would have been beautiful in the right conditions) was cut out.
The course followed a general all up then all down profile, the initial ascent being 30km long!
The pace was again set from the start by the Spanish pair of David Lopez Castan and Miguel Caballero Ortega. We held onto their backs for the first 17km of the barely relentful climb but eventually their climbing pace proved half a notch too quick for us and they gradually pulled away. That was the last we saw of them in the misty conditions.
There was a lovely section of boggy and rocky track in the middle of the course followed by a 12km road/track descent to the finish. We were hoping to pull the Spaniards back on these sections but they are clearly more sure-footed on rough terrain than we anticipated. By the finish they had 10 minutes on us. Our finishing time for the marathon-length course was 4 hours and 1 second. there was a dead heat for 3rd place 10 minutes behind us.
So the Spanish team continue to stretch their lead on us, whilst we are looking more and more secure in second place. We will continue to try and put the pressure on them and aim for a stage victory before the end of the week.

TransApline - Run vazut de acolo - Team Inov8

descrierea primelor zile de la TAR 2011 traite de echipa TEAM INOV-8 GORE-TEX FOOTWEAR; Joe Symonds si Lennox Jethrodin GB; Sunt o echipa puternica care cu siguranta va fi pe podium daca problema cu genunchiul lui Joe nu se va agrava!
Vad ca au mers destul de bine azi si au venit pe locul 2 la aproximativ 10 min de spanioli!

Transalpine Run 2011 stage 2 - 53km/2,400m climb

"Today was the longest leg of this Transalpine run and took us from Hirschegg to Schruns in Austria. The 53km contained three substantial climbs with the usual stunning alpine backdrop. It was going to be a tough one.

Joe and my plan was to keep up with the leading Spanish team and see what happens after around 40km. The plan worked till around 32km when they pulled away half way up the second climb. They were climbing very well but we were descending stronger than them. The next descent was a massive 1,200m descent - I was confident that we could catch them. They were around 3 minutes ahead at the top and by the bottom we had cut the lead to around 30 seconds. Most of the way down I had been shouting at Joe that we we catching them. I was unaware that in the chase he had fallen and badly cut his leg hence not been able to catch them as quickly as we had hoped.

The final 600m climb was hard for everyone running in the race and we walked most of it. We thought the Spainards he pulled clear of us so gained hope when we saw them just ahead. With a long descent to the finish I thought a stage win was possible. Likely slowed by the blood coming out his leg Joe struggled over the last undulating 5 km and we ended up 4:49 minutes behind and area now 18 minutes behind. The battle at the front has meant we have moved well clear of third place.

Joe went straight to the medical tent and was rushed to hospital. There he was given 12 stiches and told that he could not walk for 10 days. Being a doctor he questioned this and asked for a consultant who agreed he could run if he must and so the race goes on. Hopefully tomorrow will not be another medical report about Joe. "

Astazi ploua, ploua rau si avertizari de furtuna si fulgere! S-a modificat putin tura si s-a renuntat la zona alpina!
Startul etapei de azi aici:
etapa de azi 42km cu 1800m diferenta de nivel, probabil vor face in jur de 8h20min fetele. Clasamentul se va updata!

"Demanding almost as much stamina as the King's stage, this stage from Schruns to Galtür offers excellent, almost endless trails on the so-called "Wormser Höhenweg" high above the Montafon. Completing no less than a marathon distance and 2,672 m in elevation difference, participants arrive in Galtür, thus making it right into the middle of the Silvretta group of the central Alps. From the runner's point of view, the third stage of the Gore-Tex Transalpine-Run 2011 is probably one of the highlights of the whole route."

With its tough 53 kilometers of distance and 2,481 meters of difference in elevation, it poses an extreme challenge where just making it to Schruns within the time limit will be an athletic feat. The best hiking paths and challenging trails lead through an impressive high mountain landscape. With the Allgaeu Alps, the Lechtal Alps and the Verwall group, this stage alone crosses three mountain ranges."

Prima etapa este o etapa mai usoara se pare, 27 de km si 1800m diferenta de nivel, fiind prima zi de concurs startul este la ora 11 permitand tuturor participantilor sa se acomodeze si sa ridice pachetul de start.
Echipe formate din 2 persoane, categorii: masculin, feminin, master (man) si senior master (man)!

UTMB, CCC 2011

prietenii mei la UTMB!

Am fost iar in Chamonix pentru UTMB, avem o gramada de povesti, multe poze si mult mai multe amintiri si momente de neuitat!
la UTMB totul este IMREVIZIBIL!!
vremea extrem de calduroasa dinaintea concursului nu putea anunta decat ca va veni si furtuna candva!!
Startul din Courmayeur a fost incredibil, deja se anuntase vreme proasta incepand cu vineri dupamiaza, dimineata este insorita si racoroasa, toamna se apropie si norii de pe cer confirma previziunea meteo.

Modificarea rutei CCC, modificarea rutei UTMB, modificarea orei de start pentru UTMB de la 18:30 la 23:30!

Mihai inainte de start - zambeste!

Organizare perfecta! informarea concurentilor prin SMS - este incredibil cum se tine cont de atat de multe amanunte si cum au reusit in acest an sa aiba si o ruta alternativa!
Echipamentul obligatoriu a fost verificat si la inregistrare si la start ( aleator la cativa participanti)
Mai urmeaza alte povesti si detalii despre acest concurs unde merita sa mergi macar o data in viata!
Filmul cursei UTMB 2011 si rasaritul de soare de sambata dimineata cred ca vor ramane in sufletul si mintea curajosilor participanti care au luat startul din Chamonix vineri seara pe o ploaie incredibila!

Iar Silvia mereu isi va aminti ca o avertizare meteo de 30 litrii/mptr e mult mai mult decat daca cineva ti-ar arunca 3 galeti de apa in cap :-)

pt mine a fost o plimbare frumoasa la Chamonix, nu am putut participa la CCC dar m-am bucurat sa ii astept in Chamonix pe Sis, Mihai, Gigi, Feri, Dan Musat pe care l-am ratat iar atmosfera din acest oras in zilele de concurs UTMB este incredibila!
